GTA HANGOUT / INFORMATION
Cookies & browser storage
A practical guide to the small amount of data stored in your browser.
Last updated 5 November 2026
Age confirmation
The forum uses the first-party cookie gta_adult_v1 to remember your 18+ self-declaration for 30 days. It contains the value “yes”, not your date of birth or identity documents. Clearing it or using another browser prompts confirmation again. It is not used for advertising or cross-site tracking.
Homepage
The static homepage at gtahangout.com does not intentionally set cookies or use local/session storage. Its fonts, images and scripts are served locally. It does not load advertising or analytics tools.
Forum cookies
The forum uses first-party cookies to provide the account and session features you request. They are not advertising identifiers.
| Name | Purpose | Duration |
|---|---|---|
flarum_session | Session state, sign-in continuity and security of forum requests | Currently issued with a two-hour lifetime; may refresh as you use the forum |
flarum_remember | Keep you signed in when persistent sign-in is requested | Flarum’s configured default is up to five years, unless logged out, revoked or cleared sooner |
locale, if set | Remember an explicitly selected interface language | Until its expiry or you clear site data; currently English is the enabled language |
The observed session cookie is Secure, HttpOnly and SameSite=Lax. Necessary session and requested sign-in functionality are not conditional on agreeing to marketing tracking.
Forum interface preferences
These local-storage keys remember interface choices. They are stored in your browser on the forum’s origin, not shared with advertisers.
| Key | Purpose | Duration |
|---|---|---|
forum-ui-sounds-opt-in-v1 | Your saved sound/mute choice. Despite its historic key name, sounds currently default to on until muted. | Until changed or cleared |
welcomeHidden | Remember that you dismissed the welcome message | Until cleared |
composerHeight | Remember an editor size you selected | Until changed or cleared |
panePinned | Remember your discussion-pane pinning choice | Until changed or cleared |
The forum is dark-only. Its native theme-preference code is not used to override that fixed theme.
Control your choices
Mute interface sounds from the forum navigation or footer. You can remove cookies and storage through your browser’s site-data settings for forum.gtahangout.com. Homepage and forum are separate origins: clearing only gtahangout.com does not necessarily clear forum preferences. Blocking necessary cookies can prevent sign-in or posting. Clearing local storage resets saved layout choices.
Why there is no “accept all” banner
No advertising, analytics or other optional tracking is currently enabled. The forum uses session functionality and storage for requested account/interface choices. If we introduce non-essential tracking, we will provide the required information and obtain consent before using it; browsing alone will not count as agreement.
